Abdullah Mamun is Professor of Finance and George S. Dembroski Scholar at the Edwards School of Business. He is also Fellow in Credit Union Finance at the Canadian Centre for the Study of Co-operatives. He has taught economics and finance at undergraduate and graduate level at the University of New Orleans and at Massey University before moving to the University of Saskatchewan. He is actively involved in graduate student supervision (both M.Sc. and Ph.D.). His students have worked in different areas of financial economics, banking risk management, non-traditional banking activity, financial markets, and M&A. Many of his graduate students are well placed in academia, the private sector and in government.
Professor Mamun has a very wide research interest. His current research projects involve monetary policy and banking, risk management, credit unions, financial economics, M&A, etc. He has published over 20 research articles in journals such as The British Accounting Review, Journal of Corporate Finance, The Financial Review, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of Policy Modeling, International Review of Finance, International Review of Economics and Finance & Finance Research Letters among others. He has served as reviewers in journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Economics and Finance, Financial Services Review, Global Journal of Finance and Economics, The Financial Review and International Money and Finance. He is currently on the Editorial Advisory Board of Review of Financial Economics.
He is active in professional organizations; he has served on program committee of Eastern Finance Association, Southwestern Finance Association, and Academy of Financial Services. He regularly attends and presents papers at academic conferences such as The Financial Management Association International, Asian Finance Association and Southwestern Finance Association.
