Thomas Gray (PhD) has agricultural economics degrees from Cornell and Ohio State with a Ph.D. in rural sociology from Ohio State as well as a MSW degree from Catholic University. He holds a position as Rural Sociologist with the Rural Business-Cooperative Service, USDA with research as a central focus at three levels of analysis, i.e. 1) determinants of participation, 2) membership organizational design, and 3) socio-economic context issues with a focus on such topics as changes in the structure of agriculture, the agriculture of the middle, market concentration, terroir product development, appropriation and conversion of cooperatives by IOFs, impacts of biotechnology development, social justice issues concerning subjugated populations and cooperatives, and theory development.  He has over 100 published articles.  He also has a psychotherapy practice in the Washington, DC area with affiliations with the Washington School of Psychiatry and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.
