Governance
Governance is a critical determinant of the success or failure of co-operative organizations. The allocation of power through governance enables organizations to address three fundamental issues:
- strategic interdependencies among stakeholders, or how people and organizations work together;
- establishing a shared way of thinking to address an uncertain future; and
- the maintenance of legitimacy in the system. Research at the CCSC examines all aspects of co-operative governance, including governance theory, management practices, stakeholder voice and engagement, trends and best practices for boards and delegates, and problems of demutualization.
