The innovative capacity of co-operatives is derived in part from the locally-rooted, democratic and participatory model of governance, which provides co-operative organizations with the opportunity to get first-hand information on people’s expectations and needs.

Yet globalization brings many challenges, not least of which is the capital required to develop the innovative technology that people have come to expect.

Our research looks at the ways that co-operative organizations are adapting to their changing environments and meeting the innovation imperative.
